Howard County Sheltered Services Board
(HCSSB)

Mission Statement
It’s simple! Our mission is to support opportunities and choices for Howard County residents with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families.

Who’s Who
The HCSSB is a volunteer board of Howard County citizens based on the Missouri SB40 tax levy enabling legislation. Our board also provides oversight of local Service Coordination services for individuals needing services in our county. The day -to-day functions of the board and Howard County Service Coordination is administered by an Executive Director.

Services Available/Provided/Purchased
The HCSSB provides need-based and locally funded grants to individuals and non-profit organizations serving citizens with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in our county when services, equipment, and other needs are not covered by other sources of funding.
Our Service Coordination program provides each qualifying individual with a Service Coordinator that can act as an advocate to help access needed services both locally funded and also through the Department of Mental Health/Division of Developmental Disabilities state and federal programs and services.

Referral/Eligibility
Individuals and families who are interested in learning more about our services and programs and to determine if they are eligible, may contact our office for assistance. The Missouri Department of Mental Health/Division of Developmental Disabilities makes final determination of an individual’s eligibility of services; however, our office is available to assist with that process every step of the way.

Board of Directors Meetings
HCSSB Board of Directors Meetings are held once a month, the second Tuesday of every month, at 6:00 pm at our office at 600 West Morrison, Fayette, Missouri 65248
